Mbeki urges Zuma to listen to stalwarts

JOHANNESBURG - Former President Thabo Mbeki has appealed to President Jacob Zuma to listen to ANC stalwarts who have expressed their concerns about his leadership.

In an open letter, Mbeki urges Zuma to take the advice of the veterans who he says are eminently senior to most members of the party's current National Executive Committee.

He adds that the veterans have 'advanced extremely serious observations about the current situation" and that ANC leaders must engage the 101 veterans 'with all due seriousness'.

The ANC veterans, who include former secretary general Cheryl Carolus and Frank Chikane, have publicly criticised Zuma and thrown their weight behind Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

Katlego Danke makes big TV comeback with Isidingo

Ousted Generations actress Katlego Danke is back in the saddle as a soapie leading lady with a new explosive role on Isidingo.

On Tuesday, 01 November, at 19:00 she will make her big television acting comeback on the SABC 3 prime-time show. Aside from hosting the Lotto, it has been two years since we last saw Danke in action on the small screen. But she strongly insists that she never left acting, she has just been busy with film work.

"It's not my big acting comeback, because within acting we do different things that people don't get to see. I suppose as far as TV is concerned it's my acting comeback, because people last saw me on Generations and this is the next big thing that people will see me doing," Danke points out.

SuperSport have history of hitting opponents for six

Winning by ridiculous margins is something that has been part of SuperSport United's DNA.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori have long established themselves as the league's big hitters since their 8-1 demolition of Zulu Royals during the 2003/04 campaign and this still stands as the record for the biggest league win in the PSL era.

The closest the three-time league champions came to equal that recod was during the 2011/12 season with a 7-0 beatdown of Maritzburg United.

While the 6-1 annihilation of Orlando Pirates on Tuesday left the Buccaneers reeling from their heaviest league loss under the PSL banner, the margin was just one more in SuperSport's record of half-a-dozen winning scorelines.

It was just another occasion when SuperSport hit an opponent for six having previously staged a 6-0 mauling of Bush Bucks during the 2005/06 season and a 6-1 win over Free State Stars during the 2007/08 campaign.
